Abstract
The Ancient Greek vocabulary distinguishes ten parts of speech: (declinable) article, substantives, adjectives, numerals, pronouns, verbs; (indeclinable) adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions and interjections. On the basis of provenance, three categories of Ancient Greek vocabulary may be distinguished: (1) vocabulary inherited from PIE, (2) loanwords, and (3) vocabulary created in Ancient Greek.
