Abstract
At least 400 Greek loan-words in Ge'ez (called also ‘Ethiopic’ or ‘Classical Ethiopic’), which is the liturgical language of the Ethiopian church, occur almost exclusively in translations of the Bible (the Old Testament was translated from the Septuagint and the New Testament from the Greek original) and of some other Christian texts, as well as in theological writings.
