Abstract

Syriac, which is a dialect of Aramaic spoken and written in Late Antique Syria and Mesopotamia, contains a number of Greek loanwords. Most of these are nouns, though there are also particles and verbs. The Greek loanwords in Syriac are an important witness to the Greek of Late Antique Syria and Mesopotamia.
