Abstract

Proto-Greek and Common Greek are two terms which refer ‒ with a potentially different(iated) meaning ‒ to the Greek of the 2nd millennium BCE (primarily), which on the one hand, was already a distinct Indo-European language and on the other, comprised traits that were normally common to the later attested dialectal varieties of Ancient Greek.
