Computer science (the study of the systematic and automatic processing and transmission of information) is a very new area of knowledge. Since the 1950s it has been evolving from a variety of sub-disciplines which themselves belong to other disciplines (mathematics, logic, electrical engineering, and electronics), to which computer science was originally subordinated.
