Scalar Implicature

Scalar implicature (henceforth SI) is a notion developed in inferential pragmatics. Its derivation crucially relies on the existence of sets of linguistic units that form a special implicating relationship. Such a set consists of items forming an ordered set <e1, e2, … en>, in which the following criteria hold:
