This entry offers a basic description of how wh-dependencies are built in Chinese, and what type of locality principle they observe. In particular, we discuss how Chinese wh-construals shed light on issues concerning the existence of covert movement, the licensing mechanisms of wh-in-situ, as well as their cross-linguistic implications.
