Founded in 1849 as the Bonifatiusverein, the Bonifatiuswerk is a German Roman Catholic charitable organization for pastoral care among the diaspora in Germany. With some 500,000 members, it promotes spiritual vocations, provides transportation for pastoral work, and supports the building of churches and educational centers, always in the form of help for self-help.
