Agricultural production in Central Europe, in contrast to England and the Netherlands, was marked by the three-field system with extensive fallow land and brought in only modest harvest. Extensive common land inhibited intensive land use. Feudal, natural, and technological conditions imposed further limitations on the development of agriculture.
