Apodemica

The term “apodemica” denotes the methodology of the early modern Bildungsreise and the associated literary genre. The word is a Humanist neologism based on Greek apodemeín (“to leave home, travel abroad”); it was first used as a noun at the end of the 18th century [2], though it had been used adjectivally since the late 16th century.
