Chartism

The term Chartism goes back to the People's Charter, an English manifesto of the 1830s. Chartism itself was both the promotion of a progressive class rule and a popular political radicalism. The force behind it was the protest against the Election of 1832, regarded as inadequate, against the “half”, parliamentary reform by the landowner bourgeoisie.
