The Hanseatic League was a coalition of Low German merchants and towns to form a trading company, which carried on long-distance trade (Trade, Long-distance ) in northern Europe from the mid-12th century (the so-called early Hanseatic period) to the end of the 17th, dominating it between roughly 1300 and 1500.
