The metalworking craft (Crafts and trades) of the locksmith (Neolatin serator/serifex, Dutch slotenmaker, German Schlosser, Kleinschmied, Kunstschmied, French serrurier, Italian chiavaio), developed from the 14th century within the sphere of activity of the smithy.
