Postzeitung is a printed periodical newspaper published by the holder of a postal office (post-master). After the first untitled newspapers, the term appears for the first time around 1621 in the title of the Unvergreiffliche continuierende Post Zeittungen of the Frankfurt imperial postmaster Johann von den Birghden.
