Reichsdorf(890 words)
A Reichsdorf (imperial village; also Reichshof or Reichstal) was a legal community immediate to the late medieval and early modern Holy Roman Empire (Imperial immediacy). Its legal status was similar in some respects to that of the Free Imperial Cities, excepting the absence of municipal law and access to the Imperial Diet (Reichstag). The Reichsdörfer shared with the Imperial knights the peculiarity of not holding the status of an Imperial estate.
