1. Concept

The sketch (Italian schizzo, “draft”) is an artistic form of draft for rapidly recording an idea or an impression from nature. It establishes the placement of figures and composition. The sketch is a technique of both painting and drawing (Italian disegno), in each case as part of the work process.
