State church law (German Staatskirchenrecht, now also Religionsverfassungsrecht, “religious constitutional law,” or staatliches Religionsrecht, “state religious law”), is state law governing the church (expanded in the Weimar Constitution of 1919 to include all religious communities) – originally understood in an institutional sense, now also including freedom of religion.
