The oldest still active Jewish library in the world, Ets Haim - Livraria Montezinos in Amsterdam was founded in 1616 as a school and a library for the converso community which had come from the Iberian Peninsula to Amsterdam in the course of the sixteenth century. The school had a unique curriculum and the library now holds one of the most important Sephardic collections in the world.
