The Jewish National Library was established to promote Soviet Jewish Statehood in Birobidzhan. Mostly due to political difficulties it did not succeed to become a significant Jewish library. However, always having some Jewish patterns in its activities, the library was (and still is) one of the most important Jewish enterprises in the history of Birobidzhan.
