Boxing symbolizes a form of Jewish strength like no other modern martial art as this sport has a long tradition of Jewish boxers. As early as the late 18th century, the Sephardic Jew Daniel Mendoza dominated the beginnings of professional boxing in England. Jewish boxers experienced a second peak in the first half of the 20th century in the United States where boxing as an individual sport was a means of social advancement.
