Private university in Waltham (Massachusetts, United States) which was founded in 1948 in answer to the admission restrictions for Jewish applicants and professors at American universities. It was named after the Zionist and first Jewish judge at the Supreme Court of the United States, Louis D. Brandeis, and is still the only non-faith-based secular university in North America sponsored by Jewish funds.
