Megalle Temirin (Revealer of Secrets, 1819) is one of the most important anti-Hasidic works. Its author, the Jewish Enlightenment thinker Joseph Perl (1773–1839), not only introduced a new satirical style of writing with his Hebrew-language epistolary novel, he also established a specific literary discourse predicated on the opposition between Haskalah and Hasidism.
