The Schwarzbuch, published in January 1934, documents the disenfranchisement of the German Jews since Hitler’s seizure of power a year earlier. The volume was edited by the Paris-based Comité des délégations juives with the aim of refuting the argument put forward by German propaganda that the National Socialist laws targeting Jews served only to maintain law and order.
