Modern scholarship has not yet produced a comprehensive study on the role of astrology (Ar. aḥkām al-nujūm) in Jewish culture in Arab lands, but there can be little doubt that the majority of both educated and uneducated, well-off and poorer Jews in the Arabic-speaking world subscribed to some kind of belief in the influence of the celestial bodies on the sublunar world, and in the possibility of predicting future events by interpreting the stars.
