Ruth Knafo Setton was born in 1951 in Safi, Morocco. In 1953 her family emigrated to the United States and settled in Pennsylvania. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Denver with a B.A. in English, she received her Ph.D. from Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1981. She has published numerous works of fiction and poetry in journals such as Bridges, Zeek, Maggid, and the North American Review.
