Arabic-speaking Jewish communities existed in the coastal cities of Libya and some of its inland villages. The Judeo-Arabic of the city of Tripoli shows many phenomena not found in surrounding Arabic dialects, but the linguistic situation of the entire Libyan territory has not yet been thoroughly investigated.
