Serge (Henry Haïm) Moati is a French Jewish cinema and telefilm actor, director, critic, and a writer. He was born in 1946 in Tunis in a house called Villa Jasmin. At the age of eleven, he was orphaned and subsequently brought up by his sister, the novelist Nine Moati (b. 1938). His mother was the actress Odette Scemama (1905-October 1957), born into the Twansa community. His father was the socialist, journalist, playwright, and freemason Serge Moati (1903-August 1957), who had been born into the Grana community.
