Istro-Romanian: A Romance-Speaking Enclave in a Slavic-Speaking Area

Istro-Romanian (ISO639-3: ruo) is a severely endangered Balkan Romance language spoken in the region of Istria in Croatia. A small number of middle-aged and elderly men and women living in six enclave villages speak the language alongside Croatian. While a Romance language, Istro-Romanian has undergone extensive contact influence from Croatian.
