(Chronicle of the archbishops of Cologne)

14th century. Germany (Rhineland). This Latin chronicle of the bishops of Cologne was initially composed in the 1370s. It begins with the narration of the conversion of the city of Cologne to Christianity by the preaching of Maternus at the end of the 1st century. According to legend, Maternus left Rome with Eucharius and Valerius by order of St. Peter to preach the Gospel in Gaul.
