Venetian diplomat, statesman and historian, whose Historia Etruria (History of Etruria), written in the manner of Caesar's Commentaries, provides a detailed portrait of Tuscan politics in 1454-5. He studied at the University of Padua where he earned his doctorate in arts in 1442 and in law in 1453, and lectured in philosophy.
