d. 1368/9. England. Monk of Westminster Abbey (Benedictine), and author of the 1346-67 Latin continuation of Flores Historiarum of Matthew Paris, written ca 1366-7. In the sole surviving manuscript (London, BL, Cotton Cleopatra ms. A.xvi), this follows copies of Robert of Reading's continuation of the Flores and Adam Murimuth's Continuatio Chronicarum. John borrows from Robert of Avesbury and other sources including newsletters for overseas military campaigns, although he is sometimes factually inaccurate.
