Agriculture in Egypt consists of the intensive cultivation of irrigated land in the Nile Valley. Crops range from wheat and other grains to cotton and fruits and vegetables. Animal husbandry is important for dairy products, work, and as a store of value. Overall, agriculture represents about one-sixth of the gross domestic product, although this value is declining.
