The purpose of this entry is to discuss ways in which gender and gender relations inform banking and finance activities in the Muslim world. The entry explores the rise of Islamic banking in the Muslim world, how increased attention to Islamic beliefs in banking has led bankers to focus on issues of gender relations, and what banks in some Islamic countries have done to address these issues.
