Education: Post-Secondary: Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, and Iraq

Of the five countries covered here, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine have made the greatest strides in higher education for women. In Jordan, in the year 2000, more females (73,000) than males (69,000) enrolled in tertiary education, and the female to male ratio, or Gender Parity Index for Gross Enrollment Ratio (GPI) was 1.14.
