Introduction

Much of what applies to the study of women and gender in Iranian history since 1925 applies to the study of any theme or episode in modern Iranian history. Five general categories of information are available to today's researchers: archival and quantitative sources, the periodical press, memoirs and oral history, the internet, and artistic sources (literature and cinema).
