Sexualities: Transvestism: Overview

Transvestism is the phenomenon of cross-dressing. The terms transvestism and transvestite are said to have been created by Magnus Hirschfeld in his book entitled Die Transvestiten in 1910. It was first translated in English as cross-dressing in 1911 (King 1996, 82).
