Space: Female Space: Turkey

The way female space has been constructed in modern Turkey is related to a historical negotia tion between traditions dating back to the Ottoman era and the Republican reforms regarding women's emancipation and secularism. The Republican regime brought important changes in dress codes, voting rights, education and professional opportunities, and promoted Western art and culture.
