The Encyclopedia of Women and Islamic Cultures (EWIC) is an interdisciplinary, transhistorical, global project bringing together scholarship on all women in Muslim-majority countries and Muslim women in Muslim-minority countries. EWIC covers research on and by women and Islamic cultures from the period just before the rise of Islam to contemporary times. EWIC’s goal is to cover all disciplines, all topics, and all regions of the world for which scholarly research is available on women and Islamic cultures.
