[331c] Early in this year the idea and desirability of forming a conjugal union in a foreign land lodged in Sardar ʿAbd al-Rahman Khan’s heart and he contracted a marriage with the daughter of one of the prominent figures of Badakhshan. Taking the responsibility of family (once again) on his shoulders, he took to his bosom that pearl of the sea of maidenhood and modesty.1
