6. – The succession is opened upon the physical death of a person. The term “Opening of a succession” sets out a general principle universally known and recognized in every legal system.

In many instances this principle is formulated by provisions which are, however, explicit to different degrees. See e.g. the french and the belgian CC art. 718, greek CC art. 1710 (1) and japanese CC s. 882.1
