Biography:

Strabo1 (14, 1, 48) mentions that a Menecrates from Nysa was a student of Aristarchus2 and the father of Aristodemus3 whom the young Strabo heard when he was an elderly man: from this information we can date Menecrates to the 2nd c. BCE.
