Biography:

The grammarian Philtatius is known only from a fragment of Olympiodorus of Thebes1 (ap. Phot. Bibl., cod. 80, 1 60b, 7-11), and he probably had direct contact with him, as Photius2 note (Φιλτάτιος ὁ τοῦ ἱστορικοῦ ἑταῖρος) indicates. This permits us to date his akmé
