This volume opens the series on philosophy in the Islamic world that is part of the Grundriss der Geschichte der Philosophie. It will consist of four volumes dedicated to presenting the development of philosophical thought in the Islamic realm from its beginnings up to the present (I: 8th–10th cent.; II: 11th–12th cent.; III: 13th–18th cent.; IV: 19th–20th cent.).
