(Jul 6, 1899, Neuss – Sep 1, 1994, Lüdenscheid). Ameln studied musicology at Göttingen and Freiburg i. Br. Forced to retire in 1934 after a short period of teaching in Münster, Elbing, and Dortmund, he became a choirmaster and concert organizer in Lüdenscheid. From 1928 to 1930, Ameln was the editor of Das musikalische Schriftum; from 1925 to 1933, he edited Die Singgemeinde, published by the Finkensteiner Bund. In 1955, together with C.
