(May 15, 1879, Ljungby, Sweden– Dec 16, 1977, Lund) was a student of N. Söderblom and Einar Magnus Billing. From 1913 to 1933, he was professor of systematic theology at Lund, from 1933 to 1952 bishop of Strängnäs, and from 1944 to 1950 president of the Academy of Music. With A.T.S. Nygren and Ragnar Bring, Aulén shaped the theology of the Lundensian school and put his stamp on systematic and historical theology in Sweden.
