1. Old Testament and Gospels.
The word “body” rarely appears in the Hebrew OT, because human beings are usually referred to as flesh and soul (cf. Flesh and spirit: I). The LXX often uses σῶμα/sṓma (“body”) to translate בָּשָׂר/bāśār (“flesh”).
