The deed of foundation of the first university in the capital city of Hungary (in Altofen/Obuda) was issued in 1395 by Pope Boniface IX. The university was closed again in 1403, presumably because of rebellious movements in the city. It was reestablished in 1410. The last mention of it dates from 1419.
