(Erbe; 1494, Ettlingen – May 13, 1571, Rappoltsweiler) obtained his education in the school of a Canon Heinrich Wölflin in Bern, in which Zwingli also sometimes took instruction. In the Kappel War (Switzerland) in 1531 Erb held the position of chaplain with the Bernese troops. After the defeat, he first worked as a pastor in Baden-Baden, then as schoolmaster in Gengenbach. Count George of Württemberg called him from there as superintendent of the government of Horburg-Reichenweier in Alsace to reform the church …
