(May 6, 1784, Gladenbach – Jan 21, 1856, Karlsruhe). After serving as a pastor in Hesse (Nassau), in 1825 Hüffell was appointed pastor and professor at the theological seminary in Herborn; in the same year he received an honorary doctorate from Giessen. In 1828 he joined the united Protestant church of the grand duchy of Baden, which had been formed by the Reformed and the Lutherans in 1821. Hüffell served as its third prelate or regional bishop from 1828 to 1855, following J.P. Hebel (1821–1826) and Johannes Bähr (1826–1828). He was already well known for his m…
