Marius Victorinus, Gaius (given the epithet Afer in the 16th cent.; prior to 300 [?] – after 363 and well before 386), a rhetorician and theologian of strong philosophical orientation who exerted considerable influence on Latin theology through his mediation of Greek thought (Ambrose of Milan, Augustine of Hippo). As a pagan rhetor urbis, he was probably granted senatorial rank and honored with a statue in the Forum of Trajan in Rome (354).
